Romaeris Corp. develops and manufactures unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for remote sensing applications including collection of data related to crop health and agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. The company’s breakthrough technology includes large, fixed wing “weight-shift control” UAVs that are very inexpensive to manufacture and operate but require complex robotics for flight control. These UAVs have long range, long endurance, and increased payload capacity compared to other products on the market and attract many new market applications.
With support from theTalent Development Intern program, Romaeris hired a new employee to improve the capabilities of the UAV’s robotic actuation system to handle a wider range of operating conditions to prepare for growing commercialization opportunities. The intern developed software and firmware to increase the power of actuators and to eliminate possible critical errors during flight. The project broke new ground on the technical front, culminating in test flights of a 150 Kg fixed-wing UAV and contributing to making Ontario a leader in the field of robotics and aerospace.
With the support from the Talent Development Internship Program, Romaeris will continue to improve capabilities of their UAV robotic actuation system to continue to drive product demand.
