Real Life Robotics

About

Real Life Robotics Inc. (RLR) is a Kitchener-based technology company building the next generation of automation infrastructure software. Its core platform, PASSENGER, is a vendor-agnostic orchestration layer that unifies real-time data from robots, IoT sensors, GPS-enabled vehicles, and connected infrastructure systems. Rather than manufacturing hardware, RLR enables intelligent coordination across heterogeneous automation fleets — transforming disconnected devices into measurable operational intelligence. PASSENGER has been deployed in active municipal and commercial environments across Ontario, supporting smart mobility, delivery automation, and asset tracking initiatives with partners including the City of Kitchener, the City of Markham, SKIP, leading academic institutions, and others.

Project

Construction remains one of Ontario’s largest productivity gaps — characterized by fragmented workflows, limited real-time visibility, and growing automation complexity. PASSENGER’s vendor-agnostic architecture allows it to extend into the construction sector — unlocking operational efficiency and asset-level visibility in logistics-heavy, automation-challenged environments. Through this Development and Commercialization program, Real Life Robotics is developing and commercializing a construction-optimized AI orchestration module based on the PASSENGER core platform. Evergreen Brick Works will serve as the primary Technology Development Site (TDS), providing a live urban redevelopment environment where new AI models and orchestration logic will be trained, validated, and refined against active construction workflows. The Toronto Zoo is engaged as a key ecosystem collaborator, supporting future deployments of PASSENGER across large-scale, multi-phase public infrastructure environments.

Impact & Outcomes

This six-month project will deliver a commercially deployable version of the PASSENGER module and expansion into Ontario’s construction and infrastructure market. This will lead to creation of new Ontario-based AI and software engineering roles and an acceleration of automation adoption across public infrastructure and redevelopment projects.  By integrating AI, robotics telemetry, and IoT infrastructure into a unified orchestration layer, PASSENGER represents a foundational shift in how complex infrastructure environments are monitored, optimized, and scaled.
