PH Engineering Solutions Inc. is a control system design and robot integration firm based in Woodstock, Ontario. The company designs and builds industrial automation for manufacturers across North America, covering electrical and control system design, PLC and HMI programming, drives and motor control, machine vision, robotics and automation, and automated delivery systems. PH Engineering Solutions systems have to run reliably in demanding production environments, and customers include equipment manufacturers and automotive producers such as Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.

Project

PH Engineering’s current growth is limited by an administrative bottleneck rather than by engineering capacity. The paperwork that surrounds every project (quotes and RFQs, purchase orders, supplier correspondence, packing slips, inspection and quality documentation, and project handovers) takes up a large share of the small team’s time and slows how quickly we they respond to customers. Through the support of the Future Ready program, PH Engineering Soltuions will provide its employees with training in the practical use of artificial intelligence across engineering, automation, and business activities. The project will help the company build internal AI capabilities and enable employees to incorporate AI tools into their existing workflows.

Impact

By improving the efficiency of engineering and business processes, the company expects to increase its capacity to deliver customized automation solutions and support the continued adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies in Ontario.  PH Engineering Solutions estimates that they could recover between $125,000 and $200,000 per year in labour savings due to increased efficiencies.
