Palomino Inc

About

Palomino Inc., founded in 2002 and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, specializes in enterprise content management and workflow automation solutions. Its flagship platform, WebPal Cloud, serves major clients such as Grant Thornton, Neighbourly Pharmacies, and Telus, supporting mid-to-large enterprises in healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. Palomino is developing WebPal 4, a next-generation AI-driven development environment that democratizes application creation through natural language and no-code capabilities, improving efficiency and data security for industrial users.

Project

The WebPal 4 project introduces two integrated AI components—WebPal Code and an AI Assistant—to revolutionize the creation of SCADA and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems for advanced manufacturing. Engineers will be able to describe system changes in plain language, automatically generating code, configurations, and security protocols. Developed with input from the University of Ottawa’s CyberRange team, the project integrates LLMs, secure prompt engineering, and cybersecurity frameworks compliant with NIST 800-82 and IEC 62443. The result will be a private, secure AI development environment tailored to industrial and renewable energy control systems.

Impact & Outcomes

Deliverables include a fully functional AI-powered IDE integrated with VS Code, a hardened cybersecurity framework, and a validated deployment with partner in renewable energy, GANEX Inc. The project will enable manufacturers to cut software development time by up to 70%, improve SCADA and Web Application system security, and reduce operational downtime. Palomino expects to create multiple high-value technical and business roles in Ontario, increase recurring revenue by 25%, and position itself as a leader in AI-assisted industrial software. By enhancing secure AI adoption in manufacturing, the project will strengthen Ontario’s digital infrastructure and competitiveness.
