Founded in 2019, Novamera Inc. is an Ontario-based mining technology company advancing the development of mineral projects through its proprietary Surgical Mining™ platform.  Surgical Mining combines precision subsurface imaging, advanced software, and large-diameter drilling technologies to enable production in months rather than years. As demand for critical minerals continues to grow across defence, energy, advanced manufacturing, and AI infrastructure, Novamera provides a faster, lower-impact pathway to bring strategic mineral resources into production. The technology helps address key industry challenges including declining ore grades, long development timelines, limited new discoveries, and increasing environmental and social expectations.

By leveraging existing drilling systems and a precision extraction approach, Surgical Mining can reduce waste by up to 95%, lower greenhouse gas emissions by up to 44%, eliminate the need for blasting, and minimize surface disturbance—creating a more flexible and sustainable model for advancing domestic critical mineral supply chains.

Project

In partnership with NeoTech and supported by CIT, Novamera is developing advanced AI-driven models to revolutionize orebody modeling and mine planning. The project leverages computer vision, deep learning, and machine learning to transform 2D radargrams into accurate 3D orebody models, replacing manual and error-prone processes. These models will feed into a Drill Plan Simulation Platform that integrates real-time subsurface imaging, AI-powered analytics, and optimization algorithms. The result will be more accurate, cost-effective, and adaptive drilling plans that improve efficiency, reduce risk, and set a new standard for sustainable resource development. 

Impact

The project will deliver a validated AI-enabled software prototype capable of generating high-fidelity 3D orebody models in near real-time and integrating them into a dynamic drill plan platform. This advancement will drive commercialization opportunities, create high-value jobs in Ontario, and strengthen local supply chains. By protecting its novel AI/ML algorithms through patents, Novamera is positioning itself as a global leader in AI-powered subsurface imaging and sustainable mining innovation. The project not only accelerates adoption of the company’s Surgical Mining system but also contributes to significant productivity, safety, and environmental benefits for the mining sector.
