North Cargo Trading

About

North Cargo Trading is a farm operation and a foundational contributor to Canada’s agri- food sector. The company is engaged in primary agricultural production, encompassing the full cycle of farm-level activities, including cultivation, harvesting, and operational planning that collectively support the integrity and continuity of the food supply chain.  The company produces primary agricultural products that serve as essential raw inputs for processors, distributors, and food retailers operating throughout Ontario and the broader Canadian agri-food ecosystem. Its farm-level operations are designed to deliver consistent, high-quality agricultural output that meets the demands of downstream industry partners.

Project

North Cargo Trading, is developing an AI-Powered Agricultural Content & Customer Engagement System to improve digital marketing and customer communication in agriculture. The system uses artificial intelligence to generate promotional content, support multilingual customer responses, and organize common customer inquiries across platforms such as WeChat, TikTok, and Instagram.  With the support of the Technology Development Intern program, North Cargo will employ an intern who will be directly engaged in core project activities, including workflow analysis, evaluation of AI use cases, prototype development, testing, and documentation. These tasks are essential to achieving the project’s objectives of building AI-enabled solutions to improve quotation processing, data management, and internal coordination.

Impact

With the support of the intern, North Cargo Trading will further develop its Content & Customer Engagement System. The proposed AI-assisted platform is expected to reduce manual marketing and communication time by approximately 30%–50%, while improving response speed and marketing consistency. By improving customer engagement, promotional efficiency, and online customer conversion, the company estimates the system could increase annual sales by $200,000 – $300,000.
