Nelson Industrial Inc.

About

Nelson Industrial Inc., headquartered in Pickering, Ontario, is a family-owned enterprise with over 50 years of experience in specialized Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) services. The company focuses on delivering high-quality metal fabrication solutions across various industries, including construction, transportation, hospitality, healthcare, and specialized industrial applications. Their product offerings encompass access doors, roof hatches, floor doors, and architectural metalworks such as decorative panels, ceiling panels, facades, and canopies.

Project

Nelson recognizes the transformative potential of AI to optimize internal processes, enhance productivity, and maintain a competitive edge on the global stage. Leadership is confident that targeted training and strategic adoption of AI will position Nelson as an industry leader.  As Nelson currently does not have internal resources to investigate the potential of how AI can impact their business, they are looking to use the Future Ready program to engage a subject matter expert to provide them training and education in the potential of AI in their business.

Impact & Outcomes

The integration of AI into Nelson’s operations is poised to be a transformative driver of growth and efficiency, aligning with the company’s ambitious strategic objectives. By leveraging using the Future Ready Program to learn how to leverae AI technologies, Nelson aims to propel its current annual sales of $36 million, supported by 150 employees and a 14% EBITDA margin, to a robust $50 million in annual sales with a workforce of 180 employees and an enhanced 18% EBITDA margin within the next five years. This growth will be fueled by the adoption of AI-driven systems across critical functions, including production optimization, predictive maintenance, advanced analytics, and enhanced customer relationship management. These initiatives will not only streamline operations but also enable Nelson to scale efficiently without a proportional increase in operational costs.
