Home Tech Supply

About

Hometech Supply Inc. both supplies the building materials for a home renovation and installs them with its own crews; most companies in its market do one or the other. Based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, it buys from domestic and international suppliers and combines that supply with a complete design-and-build service for homeowners across the Greater Toronto Area.  The company’s work covers full house renovations, kitchen and bathroom design and construction, landscaping and outdoor works, and commercial interior projects. Its completed portfolio runs from detached luxury homes and manor properties through townhomes and condominium units to garden, patio and stairway landscaping.

Project

With support from the Future Ready program, Hometech is launching an eight-day AI training program to address a critical bottleneck in its operations. Currently, project information is scattered across disconnected tools—spreadsheets, supplier PDFs, emails, and messaging apps—which means coordinators must manually reassemble specifications, orders, and delivery records. This often results in crews arriving on site without the right materials or homeowner changes being built before they are priced.

Impact

The training will teach a core group of four to five employees to use AI to read supplier documentation, verify orders against specifications, confirm readiness before scheduling crews, and process homeowner changes on the same day they are agreed.  Over the next five years, as the standard reaches the whole workforce and the follow-on system investment lands, Hometech expects this capacity to support steady growth in project volume and the addition of roughly three to four site and trade positions in Ontario. The gain compounds, because each year the method covers more staff, more material categories and more of the company’s work, while the coordination group absorbs the higher project count without growing.
