HarvestCorp Technologies specializes in agricultural automation and AI-driven robotics for advanced harvesting solutions. The company designs both software and hardware solutions, ensuring full-stack innovation in agricultural automation. This integrated approach allows them to optimize both mechanical harvesting performance and AI-driven decision-making for precision farming. Their flagship product, the A3H Asparagus Harvester, leverages artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, robotics and IoT connectivity to revolutionize the way asparagus is harvested. The A3H integrates cutting-edge robotics, GPS navigation, and industrial-grade mechanical components to autonomously harvest asparagus, reducing reliance on seasonal labour.
The A3H Harvester is currently at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6, having undergone mechanical validation and initial field testing. As further development is required to bring the A3H closer to commercialization, HarvestCorp will be using the support of the Development and Commercialization Program to access the Vineland TDS for this project. Vineland will provide the ability for HarvestCorp to conduct large-scale field trials to test mechanical endurance and harvesting precision under varied soil and climate conditions, validate AI-driven vision and robotic gripping accuracy for improved asparagus selection and optimize the harvesting and conveyor system to maximize efficiency and reduce crop damage.
The outcomes of this project include a fully developed, tested, and validated next generation asparagus harvester equipped with advanced automation, robotics, and precision farming technologies. This will culminate in a reliable and efficient prototype designed for large-scale asparagus harvesting. HarvestCorp is anticipating that the project will generate significant economic benefits for the company over 3–5 years including: creation of between 10-15 new full-time positions and generation of revenues of $5million. Additionally, the solution will provide farmers with a gain in efficiency of 20-30% and reduce crop wastes by 15-20%.
