Harvest Systems Inc.

About

Harvest Systems Inc. is a Hamilton, Ontario-based cleantech manufacturer and McMaster University spin-out commercializing waste-heat recovery and digital operations tools for the agri-food value chain (restaurants, hotels, institutional kitchens and adjacent food processing).  The Harvest Platform is a modular, attachable exhaust-heat reclaimer that captures high-grade waste heat from gas-fired cooking appliances (ovens, fryers, griddles) and stores it in a thermal storage tank via an integrated hydronic + controls system. The platform delivers approximately 70-85 C hot water suitable for dishwashing sanitation and domestic hot water and can be extended to space/ventilation make-up air heating. Harvest Intelligence is a web/mobile dashboards that translates sensor telemetry into verified savings, operating KPIs and recommended actions operating in conjunction with the Harvest Platform.

Project

Harvest will leverage the Technology Access program to work with the MMRI TDS site to : (i) stand up a secure, Ontario-hosted data pipeline from deployed Harvest Platforms to a cloud environment with our partner HCE Telecom; (ii) develop and validate AI/ML analytics that improve verified savings, equipment/product health, and anomaly/fraud detection; and (iii) industrialize the platform through advanced manufacturing methods to reduce cost and accelerate Ontario-based manufacturing.

Impact

The result of this project will be a secure end-to-end data pipeline from Harvest Platform telemetry to an Ontario-hosted cloud data environment (via HCE Telecom) with documented data governance, schemas and APIs as well as validated performance metrics.  With the commercial release of the platform, HARvEST Systems predicts revenues of up to $3.7million over the next three years and the creation of up to six new full-time positions.
