Haggerty AgRobotics Company

About

Haggerty AgRobotics Company provides complete autonomous agricultural robotic solution packages, which are tailored to best serve the needs of Canadian growers. These packages encompass everything from identifying the right robotic platform to selecting and integrating the appropriate tools for specific agricultural tasks, ensuring seamless and efficient operation. The multidisciplinary Haggerty team is comprised of experienced farmers, precision agriculture technicians, agronomists, robotics engineers, and agriculture automation researchers.  This diverse expertise enables Haggerty to develop innovative, yet practical solutions tailored to its customers’ needs.

Project

Haggerty has identified a significant gap in the real-time monitoring capabilities of autonomous agricultural robots, specifically regarding the performance and operation of their tooling (interface with the plants/soil). Haggerty is developing the autonomous Farming Operation Monitoring System (FOMS) – a hardware accessory for robots and tractors that autonomously monitors attached implement(s), remotely transmits status information to authourized users, and intervenes when anomalies (such as crops or implement damage) are detected. From a product/process maturity standpoint, FOMS is at a TRL of 6 and through collaboration with the Vineland TDS and support from the Development and Commercialization Program, Haggerty is looking to make improvements upon the platform to move it closer to commercialization by developing AI models to create simulated environments that the solution will encounter in the field.

Impact

The primary objective of this project is to advance this solution from a TRL 6 to a TRL 8, bringing this offering closer to commercialization.  With support from the Development and Commercialization Program and collaboration with Vineland TDS, Haggerty AgRobotics will be able to accelerate the time to market for the autonomous FOMS, regularly delivering tangible deliverables in the forms of prototypes and software, culminating with the delivery of a validated product.  Haggerty Robotics is forecasting the creation of 10 new jobs and $2 million in revenue as a result of commercialization of the FOMS platform.
