Greenland International Consulting

About

Greenland International Consulting Ltd. (Greenland) is an award-winning engineering consultancy with over three decades of experience delivering comprehensive infrastructure solutions across Canada. With a strong presence across Ontario, Western Canada, and the Atlantic Provinces, the company serves diverse clients including public sector organizations, Indigenous communities, and resource industry partners.  Greenland offers a number of core services such as civil & environmental engineering, water resources engineering and land development services as well as proprietary ML-enabled software for flood mapping and advanced leak detection and pipe condition assessment services.

Project

Through the support of the Development and Commercialization program, Greenland will look to develop an AI-driven decision-support platform that combines ultrasonic guided wave sensing and acoustic monitoring to assess municipal water pipe integrity without excavation. The system deploys sensors through existing hydrants or valves to detect pipe wall degradation, corrosion, cracks, and leaks using machine learning analytics.  Greenland will work with the Evergreen TDS to test the solution and further develop their AI-powered pipe integrity assessment platform.

Impact & Outcomes

At the completion of the project, Greenland will have a technical framework and architecture report to develop the MVP of the solution.  After implementation of the solution, Greenland forecasts revenues of $1.3 million in three years.  The solution will also assist Ontario municipalities in reducing costs associated with water infrastructure maintenance.
