Project

GlobalDWS has developed VirBrix, a digital twin platform that leverages AI-enabled robotics to monitor, analyze, automate, and optimize building operations across four competencies: physical security, occupancy, sustainability, and health & safety.  Through the support of the Sector Adoption program, GlobalDWS aims to advance VirBrix to version 2.0, with Stantec participating as an industry collaborator supporting the proof-of-concept deployments. This collaboration will deploy autonomous robotic-enabled 3D scanning and analysis at Stantec customer sites, significantly reducing the time required for data processing and BIM integration to just 2-5 days.

Impact & Outcomes

As a result of this project, GlobalDWS will be able to advance its VirBrix digital twin platform and its mobile AI-enabled robotic system to version 2.0, enabling autonomous data collection across both indoor and outdoor environments. This enhancement will allow VirBrix 2.0 to capture high-accuracy 3D spatial data and integrate the information seamlessly into BIMs. Automated 3D scanning using AI-driven robotics will accelerate data processing to generate an object file for easy BIM integration in just 2–5 days, saving 75–90% of the time and 50–75% of costs compared to other competitive solutions available in the market. Commercializing VirBrix across the broader Engineering and Facility Management sectors is expected to generate approximately $250K/year in initial sales, with anticipated annual growth of 25%+, supporting the hiring of additional full-time employees at GlobalDWS.
