FPrimeC Solutions

About

FPrimeC Solutions Inc. is an engineering firm providing innovative engineering services for condition assessment, repair design and planning, and asset management of concrete structures and geo-structures across the civil infrastructure market in Canada and internationally. The core of FPrimeC’s business is to identify emerging technologies from R&D and introduce them as practical solutions to the civil infrastructure market. FPrimeC primarily uses non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for the assessment of the condition of structures and geostructures. Advanced features such as AI-enhanced NDT solutions and data-driven decision-making tools are integrated into FPrimeC’s day-to-day operations to deliver unique and cutting-edge engineering services to its clients.

Project

With the support of the Development and Commercialization program, this project will focus on the condition assessment and performance evaluation of existing civil structures and geo-structures using advanced technologies, including a combination of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and AI-driven data analysis. To achieve this, FPrimeC Solutions Inc. will work with the Cambrian College TDS to develop a labeled and validated inventory of various damage mechanisms in concrete structures and geo-structures. This inventory will serve as the training dataset for machine learning models capable of automatically detecting structural anomalies (anomalies, such as cracks, corrosion, delamination, spalling, etc.). Once trained, the models will be applied to evaluate the current condition of targeted structures and geo-structures.

Impact & Outcomes

This project will result in a working prototype of a predictive software tool for the service life prediction. This tool will integrate with existing FPrimeC engineering services and enable users to input test results and receive service life estimations and deterioration insights. The company anticipates up to $4.5 million in additional revenue over the next three years as a result of this technology, with the potential to hire up to 15 additional full-time employees.
