Evolve Builders Group is an Ontario-based full-service design and construction firm in its 27th year of operation. The company employs 34 permanent employees, spread across sales, design, estimating and construction positions. Evolve’s current primary service areas consist of Guelph and surrounding area, Grey County, and Toronto/GTA. Evolve focuses on residential single-family, low-rise multi-unit, and light commercial buildings, providing expertise in low-carbon and high performance (energy efficiency) segment.

Project

Through this Development and Commercialization supported project, Evolve is looking to develop an automated mobile, micro factory that is agile, quick to deploy, and supported by AI-enabled Design for Manufacturing and direct design-to-robot code.  Evolve Building Group will be working with the MMRI TDS site to utilize the advanced manufacturing, robotics, and industrial automation portfolio of knowledge and experience that MMRI offers to plan and execute our microfactory launch.

Impact

At project completion, Evolve will have a validated app delivering DfMA programming, and robotic construction capabilities, configured to deliver wall, floor, and roof assemblies complying with provincial and national building code regulations and passive house standards.  Evolve estimates that each robot will generate approximately $3.7 – $5.6 million in revenue and create up to three full-time positions per robot.  The use of robots will also help increase the supply and decrease the cost of housing in Ontario.
