
Ecosystem Informatics Inc. (ESI) is an Ontario-based climate technology company developing AI-enabled environmental intelligence solutions for industrial environments. Founded in 2019, ESI delivers smart, sector-specific solutions built on rugged sensor networks designed to operate in harsh and dynamic conditions. The company designs and deploys compact, wireless IoT devices integrated with a cloud-based platform that provides real-time, high-resolution insights into environmental conditions. By combining advanced sensing hardware with proprietary AI algorithms, ESI enables scalable, cost-effective monitoring that supports safer, more efficient operations across sectors such as mining, infrastructure, oil & gas, and smart cities.
This project focuses on developing and validating an integrated environmental intelligence solution for underground mining environments. The system leverages a rugged, smart sensor network—combining both fixed and mobile IoT units—to continuously monitor conditions such as dust, gas concentrations, airflow, temperature, and other critical parameters in harsh, dynamic underground settings. In collaboration with NORCAT Underground Centre, the project will validate system performance in a live mining environment, demonstrating how real-time, AI-enabled analytics can enhance hazard detection, improve situational and environmental awareness, and enable more informed, data-driven operational decision-making.
This project advances the mining sector by demonstrating the effectiveness of real-time, AI-enabled environmental monitoring in underground environments.
