Cattle Scan is a precision dairy farming hardware and software company which has established itself as a leader in agri-tech innovation for the dairy sector. Cattle Scan’s integrated platform combines proprietary ingestible sensor technology, AI-driven predictive analytics, and a secure cloud-based data system to deliver real-time, actionable insights on individual animal and herd health.  At the core of the system is a battery-operated sensor (“bolus”) placed in one of the cow’s stomachs, designed to function for the lifetime of the animal. This sensor continuously measures core body temperature and a number of physiological indicators that are often the earliest signs of illness or stress. The data are transmitted wirelessly to a secure cloud environment, where advanced AI algorithms and predictive models analyze trends

Project

Cattle Scan is actively enhancing its cybersecurity measures to ensure the safety and privacy of farmer data. With rising cybersecurity threats in the dairy industry, including data breaches and system vulnerabilities, the company looks to build trust with farmers. With the support of the Development and Commercialization program and access to the CyberRange TDS, Cattle Scan will look to undertake penetration testing goal in order to proactively identify and resolve potential security issues, ensuring robust protection for users.

Impact & outcomes

This project will result in cybersecurity and technology enhancements will directly strengthen customer trust, ensure data integrity, and enable scalable growth.  This projected growth will lead to the need for 1-2 new cybersecurity-related positions over the next 2- years as well as contribute to approximately 20% in revenue growth for the company as well as reduced costs from potential cybersecurity attacks.
