With support from the CIT Development and Commercialization program, Cardinal Volta is advancing the engineering and integration of its award-winning ORC system for deployment at a Fortune 500 automotive manufacturing facility. The project focuses on refining electrical and control system design, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and preparing the system for installation and operation. Working in collaboration with Cambrian College as the Technology Development Site, the project supports system validation, design optimization, and integration planning. The initiative will demonstrate a practical and scalable approach to recovering low-quality waste heat and converting it into clean electricity in a live industrial environment.
The project will support the commercialization of Cardinal Volta’s waste heat-to-power technology by establishing a validated pathway for deployment in industrial manufacturing environments. By enabling the recovery of previously untapped waste heat, the solution improves energy efficiency, reduces emissions, and supports more sustainable operations. Outcomes include strengthened market readiness, expanded deployment opportunities, and the potential for broader adoption across industrial sectors, positioning Ontario as a leader in clean technology innovation and sustainable manufacturing.
