BuildingAssets.ai (Caposys)

About

Caposys Inc. (dba BuildingAssets.ai) is an Ontario-based Vertical AI company that transforms static properties into intelligent, autonomous “AI Building Teammates.”  Unlike traditional passive dashboards, the company’s  solution proactively project manages building performance by aggregating siloed data—energy, maintenance, and compliance—and cross-referencing it against their proprietary Retrofit Incentives Database. This “Incentive Wedge” allows BuildingAssets.ai to identify unclaimed funding to subsidize necessary capital upgrades. By acting as a digital teammate, the company empowers building owners and operators to automate administrative tasks, reduce operating costs, and accelerate decarbonization across the built environment.

Project

BuildingAssets.ai proposes to develop AuditMate, a specialized AI-driven module that serves as the “eyes” of their intelligent building platform. Addressing the critical bottleneck of manual on-site data collection, AuditMate utilizes Computer Vision (CV) and Generative AI to automate the identification and inventory of mechanical and electrical assets during energy audits. Leveraging the Development and Commercialization program and the ventureLAB TDS for high-performance compute infrastructure and hardware-in-the-loop testing, this project will evolve AuditMate from a prototype into a commercial-grade mobile tool. The solution will feed high-fidelity, structured data directly into BuildingAssets.ai Standardized Measures Database, enabling the automated sizing of retrofit opportunities and significantly reducing the time and cost of energy audits.

Impact & Outcomes

This project effectively democratizes high-quality energy auditing for the “Long Tail” of the market—the millions of small-to-mid-sized buildings currently underserved by legacy firms. By reducing the manual labor required for audits, AuditMate enables Ontario’s SME energy auditors to scale their services and offer lower-cost solutions to building owners. Commercially, this innovation is projected to drive $1.2 million in revenue growth for BuildingAssets.ai and support the hiring of four specialized technical roles (AI engineering and product development). Ultimately, it accelerates the deployment of capital into Ontario’s green economy by identifying retrofit projects that pay for themselves through incentives.
