BH Frontier Solutions Inc.is a Canadian ag-tech company focused on developing AI-powered autonomous agricultural robots, with a strong emphasis on non-chemical weed control and precision agrochemical application. The company’s innovations are designed to address critical challenges in modern agriculture related to labor shortages, herbicide resistance, and sustainability. BHF Robotics intends to reduce herbicide usage by providing electric weeding as alternative to control weeds on farms and thereby reduce the need and reliance on manual labor for weed removal and alleviate herbicide resistance.
In this Development and Commercialization supported project, BH Frontier will look to develop a second-generation AI-guided electric weeder robot designed to achieve significantly higher weeding operational speeds than previous versions. BH Frontier will work with the University of Waterloo RoboHub to support active testing and prototype iterations to further the development of the robot.
This project will result in the development of a weeding robot that will deliver 99% weed removal efficacy while causing less than 1% visual damage to crops at more than double the current operating speed. Following completion of the project, the company expects to generate substantial and measurable economic benefits for Ontario, driven by commercialization of the Gen2 Electric Weeder, expanded local hiring, increased grower productivity, and significant reductions in on farm operating costs.
