B3 Systems Inc.

About

B3 Systems is a Toronto-based technology company that develops Operational Intelligence software for manufacturers. Its platform connects machines, systems, people, workflows, and operational data into a single environment that helps teams understand what is happening, why it is happening, and what actions to take next. Through a combination of industrial data integration, real-time analytics, and AI-assisted operational intelligence, B3 enables manufacturers to improve visibility, reliability, performance, and decision-making across their operations.

Project

Through this Sector Adoption project, B3 Systems will pilot its AI-driven predictive maintenance solution with General Motors Canada at GM’s Oshawa Assembly plant. The solution will combine historical snapshots of sensor data from full-fluid pump systems, operational event records, test-related technician comments, and maintenance history to identify early indicators of equipment issues.

B3 will deploy machine learning models that detect anomalies, predict potential failures, identify likely contributing factors, and generate maintenance recommendations that can be integrated into existing maintenance workflows. The project includes data pipeline integration, data preparation, anomaly and root-cause model deployment, recommendation workflow integration, operator training, and user acceptance testing.

The pilot is intended to demonstrate a repeatable model for AI-assisted maintenance scheduling and decision support across automotive production assets.

Impact

The project will deliver a deployable software solution that integrates with existing maintenance and operational systems, providing an additional layer of AI-driven insight and decision support. The pilot will evaluate the platform’s ability to identify potential equipment issues, recommend preventative actions, and support maintenance scheduling in a production environment. The project will also generate implementation knowledge and documentation to support future deployments across automotive and other manufacturing operations. Following the pilot, B3 plans to expand the solution to additional production lines and pursue broader commercialization opportunities. The project is expected to create high-value jobs at B3, increase company revenue, improve GM productivity, strengthen collaboration across the manufacturing ecosystem, and enhance Ontario’s capacity to commercialize AI solutions for advanced manufacturing.
