Arctic Acres

About

Arctic Acres, founded in 2019, is a pioneering Canadian manufacturer of geodesic structures, with every component manufactured in their Portland Ontario facility. The company’s flagship product, the Growing Dome greenhouse, has achieved remarkable market success with over 500 units sold across Canada in just five years. These geodesic greenhouses, ranging from 15 to 42 feet in diameter, have proven Arctic Acres’ ability to manufacture precision-engineered, climate-resistant structures suitable for Canada’s diverse environments.

Project

With the addition of a new product, GeoHome, the company is expanding into the housing market using their advanced manufacturing equipment, including AI-optimized CNC machinery, enabling precise production of complex geodesic components with 96% material efficiency.  In this Sector Adoption supported project, Arctic Acres will be working with the Ash group to further the manufacturing process and adoption of GeoHome, as well as additional prefabricated modular housing products utilizing more traditional designs.  The collaboration between Arctic Acres and Ash Group combines advanced manufacturing innovation with proven construction expertise. Arctic Acres will lead the technical development aspect of the project while the Ash Group will provide market validation for the new product line.

Impact & Outcomes

The GeoHome project will deliver a set of modular housing solutions through Arctic Acres’ advanced manufacturing facility in Portland, Ontario. Project deliverables include three validated housing models – including a market-ready 300 sq ft unit and new 850 unit and 1600 sq ft designs – manufactured using AI-optimized production systems. The demonstration site will feature all three models, providing tangible validation of our manufacturing innovations and construction methodologies also to help clients during their purchase decisions.  The economic impact of the GeoHome project will create substantial benefits throughout Ontario’s manufacturing and construction sectors. Arctic Acres projects revenue growth to $20-25 million annually by 2027, with direct job creation of 20-30 new high-skilled manufacturing positions in the first two years, growing to 50-75 positions within five years.
