ABS2 Technologies Inc. is an Ontario technology company headquartered in Kingston, Ontario. The company is developing Lawtonica, a unified regulatory workflow platform for the construction and municipal sectors.  Lawtonica combines three core components: (1) a regulatory code library containing the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code of Canada, and by-laws from more than 50 Ontario municipalities; (2) an AI assistant that provides source-backed answers from jurisdiction-specific documents; and (3) a collaborative project workspace that includes drawing markup and plan review, compliance review tools, RFIs, deficiency notices, bookmarks, occupancy load calculations, and collaboration features.

Project

This Technology Access Program supported project will strengthen the cybersecurity of the Lawtonica platform through a professional penetration testing engagement with the University of Ottawa Cyber Range TDS. The objective is to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities before broader deployment to municipal and industry users.  By improving the platform’s security posture, the project will enhance user trust, reduce cybersecurity risks, and support the safe adoption of AI-powered technology in the construction and municipal compliance sectors.

Impact

The proposed project represents an important commercialization milestone for ABS2 Technologies Inc. By strengthening the cybersecurity posture of Lawtonica, the project will improve customer confidence, reduce cybersecurity risks, and support broader commercial deployment across Ontario’s construction and municipal sectors. Over the next 24 months, ABS2 Technologies Inc. expects to expand Lawtonica throughout Ontario by increasing municipal engagement, strengthening partnerships with architecture and construction firms, and continuing customer-driven product development which will result in increases in annual recurring revenue and the need to hire an additional 4-5 full-time employees.
