Project (Development and Commercialization Program)
Through this project, GoldenHome is developing an AI-assisted sales workflow automation platform designed to streamline the quotation-to-contract process. The solution will analyze structured quotation information, including product configurations, pricing details, customer requirements, and project terms, automatically generating contract-ready documentation. By combining AI-driven document analysis, business-rule mapping, validation checkpoints, and human-in-the-loop review, the platform will reduce manual data entry, improve consistency, and accelerate contract preparation. Developed in collaboration with McMaster University’s Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI), the project will validate the technical and operational feasibility of deploying AI within GoldenHome’s sales workflow.
Impact (Development and Commercialization Program)
This project will deliver a functional MVP capable of supporting semi-automated contract generation for select cabinetry product categories. By reducing manual processing time, improving workflow consistency, and minimizing administrative errors, the platform is expected to increase operational efficiency while supporting future business growth. The project will establish a foundation for broader AI adoption across GoldenHome’s sales and operations functions and create opportunities to commercialize the solution for use by other custom manufacturers and SMEs. More broadly, the initiative demonstrates how AI can modernize traditionally manual business processes within Ontario’s advanced manufacturing sector.
Project (Future Ready)
This Future Ready project will provide targeted AI training led by IDI ITECH Development Inc. The training will focus on invoice-to-production workflows, including data extraction, document structuring, AI-agent concepts, validation of AI outputs, and responsible use of automation tools. Staff will review current processes, identify use cases, complete hands-on exercises using real business scenarios, and develop practical next steps for applying AI to order processing.
Impact (Future Ready)
The project will create a foundation for AI-assisted invoice processing and production workflow automation. Expected outcomes include trained employees, documented use cases, workflow maps, training materials, and recommendations for future implementation. These capabilities are expected to reduce manual data entry, improve accuracy, shorten order-processing time, and support more consistent conversion of customer orders into actionable production information.
Project (Talent Development Internships)
The new hires will support a four-month applied AI workflow improvement project focused on GoldenHome’s day-to-day operations. The new hire will review quotation, revision, and project coordination workflows; document current-state processes; assess AI-supported use cases; compare practical methods; and help develop a simple prototype for summarizing requirements, extracting key details, organizing information, and making project updates easier to follow.
Impact (Talent Development Internships)
The new hire will gain experience applying software and systems knowledge to a real operating environment where data, communication, and workflows are imperfect and business needs are practical. They will work with GoldenHome’s team through observation, process review, testing, feedback discussions, and supervised prototype support while building skills in workflow analysis, documentation, AI use-case evaluation, and communication with business users.
