Savormetrics, founded in 2017, is a leading technology company specializing in the development of advanced sensor systems, computer vision solutions, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications for the food and agriculture industries. Savormetrics has garnered a diverse clientele, including Fortune 500 companies and SMEs.
To address the challenge of workforce shortages in the food inspection process, Savormetrics is partnering with Nortera Foods, a leading food processing manufacturer in North America. With support from CIT’s Sector Adoption Program, the proposed partnership aims to demonstrate Savormetrics’ advanced sensing and generative AI technologies to automate Nortera’s inspection process. Automation will help mitigate the workforce challenges, maintain high standards of quality assurance and control (QA/QC), and ultimately boost the sector’s overall productivity and reliability.
The anticipated economic benefits for both Nortera and Savormetrics are substantial. For Nortera, in the first two years, there is a potential increase in revenue of at least $6 million by diverting 1.7-3.5 million pounds of vegetables per year that are currently wasted due to quality issues stemming from a lack of manual inspectors and no automated QA/QC system. Over the 2–5-year period, this could increase up to $78 million per year, across all Nortera manufacturing facilities.
For Savormetrics, introducing this new product is expected to generate an additional $5 million in revenue in 2 years. In the 2–5-year period, as the product is rolled out to other facilities internationally, Savormetrics could see an additional $10 million per year in revenue from product sales. To support the development and deployment of its technology, Savormetrics anticipates hiring seven new employees.
