Sandhu Transit Lines is a Toronto-based transportation and logistics company specializing in temperature sensitive freight services. Sandhu operates a fleet of over 20 refrigerated trucks and deliver essential goods such as food, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies across Ontario. Their primary clients include Loblaws, Health Canada, Costco, Walmart, Sobeys, and Metro. Sandhu’s operations are focused on high-compliance, time-sensitive deliveries, with over 100 Ontario-based locations served each week. The company has established itself as a trusted mid-sized carrier in Ontario’s cold-chain logistics sector and currently generates $3.8 million in annual revenue.

Project

Sandhu Transit is in the early stages of evaluating and building a business case for adopting Azure IoT as part of their broader digital modernization strategy. This solution would enable them to capture real-time vehicle telemetry, monitor temperature integrity throughout shipments, and analyze route and fleet performance through a predictive dashboard.  With the support of the Future Ready Program, Sandhu staff will receive a customized, in-house technology enablement and project management training program, designed to prepare key staff for Sandhu’s transition into a data-enabled, IoT-powered logistics operation. The strategy focuses on building long-term internal capabilities across operations, compliance, and fleet management by combining strategic instruction, practical execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

Impact & Outcomes

This project will result in the upskilling of four Sandhu Transit Lines employees through a structured training program focused on AI in technical project management and critical technology readiness.  The adoption of suitable AI technologies will provide Sandhu Transit Lines approximately $75 thousand in annual savings, increase annual revenue by $1 million in 12-18 months and provide for the hiring of 5-7 additional full-time staff.
