Project

The current  practice of mandated notice to landowners for access to wind farms  in both Canada and the U.S. relies on outdated, fragmented coordination: manual phone calls, emails, and informal access agreements.  With the support of the Development and Commercialization program, Xennial Innovations is partnering with the University of Ottawa and IBM’s Cyber Range to develop a cybersecurity-enhanced foundation for critical infrastructure and enterprise safety systems. The project aims to apply real-world cyberattack simulations, defense protocols, and AI-driven threat analysis to validate and harden Xennial’s safety coordination platform, WindSafe.ai, which supports technician/landowner communication in wind and agricultural environments.

Impact

The project will deliver a market-ready MVP version of the WindSafe.ai platform which will allow for safe and efficient communications between stakeholders in Agri-Wind installations.   In the next 3-5 years, this project will result in the creation of 10-15 new full-time positions.  Xennial forecasts annual recurring revenues of $1.5 million by year 5.  Additionally, this platform will enhance safety and compliance for wind farms to help meet Ontario’s drive for renewable energy.
