Based in Collingwood, Ontario, MEDATech is an engineering company that designs and builds custom, mobile, heavy-duty equipment for industries such as mining, energy, and construction. The company’s expertise spans drilling technology, electrification, and tailored engineering solutions, with a portfolio that includes underground and surface mining machines, service vehicles, robotic systems, and specialized equipment for industrial applications. By combining technical depth with innovative design, MEDATech delivers equipment that enhances safety, efficiency, and sustainability in demanding environments.
With support from the CIT Technology Access Program and NORCAT Underground Centre, MEDATech is advancing the RaisePro-48T, a next-generation drill designed for creating safe, efficient manways and escapeways in underground mines. Unlike conventional raise bore machines, the RaisePro-48T is compact, quicker to set up, and more cost-effective, while still capable of drilling large-diameter holes. By leveraging In-The-Hole (ITH) air hammer technology, the RaisePro-48T reduces preparation time and enhances safety for mining crews.
Testing of the RaisePro-48T will validate its design and accelerate adoption in mining operations across North and South America. The project is expected to support new engineering and manufacturing jobs in Ontario as production scales, while also strengthening MEDATech’s role as a Canadian innovator in heavy equipment design. Over time, the RaisePro-48T has the potential to significantly boost underground productivity by enabling faster and safer drilling, reinforcing MEDATech’s reputation as a trusted partner in advancing global mining practices.
