Avion Technologies Inc. is a Mississauga-based precision machining company serving aerospace, defense, satellite, and nuclear energy markets. With experience in high-precision, mission-critical components, the company manufactures custom precision gears and drive-train assemblies, gearbox housings, structural and mechanical sub-assemblies, and machined enclosures for complex industrial systems. Avion is moving from traditional manufacturing processes toward a more digitized and scalable operating model, with a focus on improving quoting, planning, production readiness, and data-driven decision-making.
Through this Future Ready project, Avion will participate in a structured AI Bootcamp delivered by The Data Integrators. The program combines weekly sessions, asynchronous support, feedback check-ins, and a demo day focused on practical AI adoption. Training will address inventory optimization, production scheduling, capacity planning, forecasting, AI assistants, reporting tools, and dashboards that can support better decision-making and workflow efficiency.
The project will equip Avion with practical AI knowledge, documented use cases, and early concepts for AI-supported operational tools. Expected outcomes include stronger data literacy, clearer internal workflows, actionable dashboards, and a roadmap for adopting AI in inventory, scheduling, and forecasting. The initiative supports improved productivity, better resource allocation, and stronger innovation capacity within Ontario’s aerospace, defence, and nuclear manufacturing supply chains.
The new hire will support development of an AI-enabled digital cost-estimation framework for Avion’s manufacturing workflows. The new hire will help collect and prepare historical project data from ERP, CAM, QA records, and production files; define success criteria for AI-driven estimates; build initial analytics models; and validate outputs against representative aerospace and defence components. The project will convert manual quoting and planning practices into a repeatable, software-driven framework that can improve cost accuracy, turnaround time, and operational consistency.
The new hire will gain hands-on experience applying quality assurance, manufacturing systems knowledge, and AI/data analytics in a real aerospace manufacturing environment. Working onsite with Avion’s planning, process engineering, production, and operations teams, the new hire will receive mentorship from senior managers while contributing to data structuring, model refinement, workflow design, and documentation. The experience will build technical and professional capacity in digital manufacturing while helping Avion improve quotation reliability, internal efficiency, and readiness to scale complex RFQs.
