SkyArc is developing a dynamic aerial shading system for agriculture, designed to help growers mitigate the effects of extreme heat and solar stress on crop productivity. Unlike static shade structures or fixed solar-integrated agricultural systems (agrivoltaic installations), SkyArc’s approach leverages multiple coordinated, mobile, lightweight, solar-assisted drones to provide adaptive, crop-specific shading that can respond to changing environmental conditions, time of day, and crop growth stage.

Project

Through the support of the Technology Access Program, SkyArc will be looking to Within the scope of this project, the coordination architecture will be assessing the drone coordination software through simulation-based validation, systems-level design review, and bounded performance analysis.  SkyArc will be working with the RoboHub TDS to validate candidate coordination approaches, define operating constraints, and establish deployment-readiness criteria. By resolving this critical validation gap, SkyArc will be positioned to responsibly advance toward controlled field pilots and engage downstream partners with greater confidence.

Impact

Through this Technology Access Program project, SkyArc will deliver independently validated technical outputs that reduce deployment risk and accelerate commercialization readiness. By establishing verified coordination architectures, documented safety constraints, and simulation-based performance benchmarks, the project will enable earlier progression to controlled field pilots in Ontario. These outcomes are expected to support near-term engineering and data-analysis roles, strengthen partnerships with Ontario research institutions and growers, and improve access to follow-on funding and pilot opportunities.
