Ingersoll Products Inc. (IPI), founded in 2011 and headquartered in Ingersoll, Ontario, is a privately held manufacturer specializing in construction and plumbing products, as well as adhesive co-packing solutions. The company employs 25 full-time staff, offering design, tooling, and automated manufacturing capabilities from a single integrated facility. IPI’s expertise in injection molding and automation allows it to deliver high-quality, Canadian-made products with rapid turnaround times and reduced reliance on offshore suppliers. Its market reach extends across North America, with a focus on reshoring and supply chain reliability for industrial and commercial clients.
The project will develop and commercialize a fully automated manufacturing process for plastic pipe clamps, replacing offshore imports with high-quality, Ontario-made alternatives. IPI will integrate robotics for nail insertion, automated material handling, and in-line quality inspection, supported by materials engineering and testing at McMaster University’s Manufacturing Research Institute. The initiative combines polymer R&D—focusing on blends that improve cold-weather durability and UV stability—with robotics-enabled assembly and automated packaging. This will establish a cost-competitive and scalable process, ensuring consistent quality, increased production speed, and the capacity to meet North American demand for plumbing accessories.
The project will result in a validated product line and a fully automated production cell capable of producing millions of pipe clamps annually, reshoring manufacturing capacity to Ontario. Within 12–18 months, IPI expects to create up to seven new skilled jobs and generate $500K–$1M in annual sales, with potential to grow to $3–5M within five years. Automation will reduce labor costs by up to 70%, cut lead times, and strengthen supply chain resilience. Beyond direct gains, the project supports Ontario’s manufacturing ecosystem through local supplier engagement, technology transfer, and a scalable model for reshoring other plumbing accessories, reinforcing Canada’s competitiveness in advanced manufacturing.
