Project

Averian is developing an advanced quality inspection solution called AI Validator. This solution is a versatile, easily deployable module that leverages cognitive AI technology to automatically detect defects and anomalies in physical products. In manufacturing environments, AI Validator performs real-time inspection to identify assembly errors, production defects, and process irregularities that are often overlooked by human inspection. This helps improve efficiency, ensure safety, and maintain high-quality standards across operations. AI Validator is designed with edge computing capabilities and a flexible deployment architecture. This enables enterprises to deploy the solution in a manner that works for them and control where their data is stored. AI Validator can increase inspection by a factor of ten over conventional approaches, streamlining model training, and allowing for real-time monitoring. Unlike traditional Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems, which are typically large and expensive, AI Validator integrates seamlessly into existing production infrastructure without the need for significant capital investment. It provides a scalable, cost-effective alternative that reduces reliance on manual inspection while enhancing overall manufacturing performance.

Impact & Outcomes

By the end of this project, Averian will have a featured and deployable solution which will be demonstrated in a working environment at industrial partner Syntronic Production Services Canada Inc. AI Validator will provide a significantly more cost-effective solution than traditional automated inspection systems and will be more reliable and efficient than human inspection processes. This will lead to a reduction in manufacturer warranty and repair costs, mitigating recalls. AI Validator will be a commercially viable product to sell through the Ontario manufacturing market. Successful completion of this project will result in at least 3 new jobs at Averian in the short term, and new revenue streams through the sales of AI Validator, projected at approximately $400k within one year.
