Global Sensor Systems Inc. specializes in advanced vehicle safety technologies for heavy trucks and fleet vehicles. For over 45 years, the company has developed and delivered sensor-based solutions that reduce accidents, improve operational efficiency, and enhance compliance for fleet operators. Their flagship products include the SearchEye and the next-generation Secure Path automatic reverse braking systems. These solutions integrate LiDAR Time-of-Flight (ToF), digital cameras, and wireless communication to detect hazards, provide driver alerts, and, when necessary, automatically apply the vehicle’s brakes. The systems are designed to work in challenging environments such as waste management, construction, and infrastructure projects, where vehicle reversing presents significant safety risks.
Global Sensor Systems believes that their automatic reverse braking system (SecurPath) can play a critical role in addressing these risks by providing innovative safety solutions that reduce accidents and improve worker protection. This Development and Commercialization program supported project will see development and testing of an enhanced version of SecurePath, an AI-driven multi-sensor safety system designed to prevent collisions and improve operator awareness for construction, utility, and road work vehicles. Global Sensor Systems will leverage Lambton College’s Technology Development Site (through its Applied Research and Innovation facilities) as the primary hub for R&D, prototyping, and system testing.
The project will result in a validated, next-generation version of SecurePath designed for construction, utility, and road work vehicles. As Global Sensor Systems commercializes the new offering, they are forecasting increased revenue from expansion into the construction, utility, and road work markets. Sales of SecurePath are projected to reach approximately 200 kits in the first year after launch, growing to 2,000 kits within three years, representing a revenue increase of more than 600 percent.
