Cence Power Inc. is an Ontario-based technology company specializing in advanced direct current (DC) power distribution systems for telecom infrastructure, data centers, and smart buildings. Its patented Digital Current™ technology enables safe, long-distance delivery of fault-managed (Class 4) and low-voltage (Class 2) power, reducing copper usage, energy loss, and installation complexity. Backed by of the world’s largest wire and cable companies, Cence is addressing the growing demand for scalable, efficient power in 5G networks and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). Its rack-mounted and wall-mounted Fault-Managed Power systems delivers 400V DC safely over long distances without the need for bulky conduit or thick cables. As global 5G deployment accelerates, Cence is positioned as a key enabler of next-generation telecom infrastructure.
Cence Power is developing and demonstrating a Class 4 fault-managed power (FMP) system to improve telecom infrastructure deployment by enabling safe, efficient, and scalable power distribution for 5G networks, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and advanced communication technologies. Traditional AC-powered telecom systems require expensive conduit, mechanical protection, and complex wiring, while high-power 48V DC systems demand thick copper cables that increase cost and installation complexity. Cence Power’s solution delivers 400V DC fault-managed power over long distances using significantly thinner, more cost-effective cabling, reducing material costs and simplifying installation. By reducing deployment costs and improving power efficiency, Cence Power’s technology will accelerate 5G infrastructure rollouts in Ontario and beyond. The project will culminate in a live demonstration showcasing the advantages of fault-managed power for telecom applications, engaging industry stakeholders, telecom providers, and policymakers.
Cence Power’s project is expected to generate significant direct economic benefits in Ontario over the next five years, including the creation of 20 new jobs in engineering, sales, and operations to support commercialization efforts. An addition, 6 existing roles will be retained as the company expands its focus toward telecom market expansion. The company forecasts $20 million CAD revenue growth, driven by large-scale telecom deployments and OEM partnerships. Indirectly, the project will reduce infrastructure costs for telecom operators, enabling faster, more cost-effective 5G rollout and improved network resilience. By advancing the deployment of Class 4 power for next-gen telecom and smart city infrastructure, Cence Power is positioning Ontario as a leader in critical communications technologies, unlocking broader economic growth across the province.
