HERd IPM Services

About

HERd IPM Services is dedicated to providing experienced and reliable pest monitoring, tracking, and reporting solutions tailored specifically to greenhouse growers. The focus is simple yet vital: helping growers identify and address pest and disease issues at the earliest possible stage before they become visible to the naked eye. This proactive approach enables their clients to stay ahead of potential problems, optimize their crop health, and improve their overall yields. Unlike traditional pest management methods that react only when problems are obvious, HERd’s approach centers on early detection and prevention. Through thorough crop scouting by a team of experienced, trained pest scouts, HERDipm provides accurate, timely reports that pinpoint pest and disease presence in their infancy. This early identification opens up a range of treatment options, many of which are non-chemical, helping growers avoid expensive, harmful pesticides while preserving the health of their crops and the environment. By implementing early-stage interventions, growers can often save on long-term costs, reduce the need for reactive treatments, and minimize crop damage that could otherwise impact both quality and yield.

Project

Through the Technology Access Program,HERd IPM Services will have access to the Vineland TDS to assist them with a fast-tracked review of current greenhouse pest and disease management technologies to identify the best pathways for innovation. This evaluation will help refine HERd’s technology integration strategy, guiding the company toward effective, sustainable, and scalable solutions for growers.  The review will include a technology assessment, identification of gaps and opportunities, definition of evaluation criteria and a roadmap to the development of solutions to address current sector gaps.

Impact & Outcomes

A comprehensive technology review and evaluation results report from the Vineland TDS with access provided by the Technology Access Program, will provide HERd with a clear, data-driven roadmap for the path forward. This will enable HERd and Vineland Research to make an informed decision about the next steps whether that be direct technology integration or collaboration with other companies.
