13666590 Canada Inc., also known as Milan Millwork, provides custom millwork to the construction sector.   The company designs, cuts and builds custom cabinetry, built-ins and millwork with customers that include interior designers, architects, homeowners and developers across the Greater Toronto area.  The shop runs CNC machinery alongside hand finishing and very part is made for one project rather than for stock.

Project

Currently,  design briefs, measurements, site photographs, and client changes arrive by email, text, and phone calls, and key details can be forgotten or missed. With no second person to review each drawing before it goes to the customer, errors only get caught after the piece is built and delivered.  With the support of the Future Ready program, this project will train Milan’s designers and shop lead to use AI as a checking tool. The training will help the team consolidate project information from correspondence into a clear job scope, document site conditions accurately, and check drawings against the company’s own build standards before they are approved.

Impact

By the end of the project, Milan will be able to send out a drawing package that has been checked by an AI-enabled software program.  This checking will ensure components are produced and shipped according to customer requirements – thus reducing returns, material waste and labour from redoing orders.  This improved accuracy will help improve revenue as well as the ability of Milan Millwork  to support additional clients.
